President's Report

Greetings fellow HAMS,

Oh my, it's hot out there. I hope everyone is doing their best to keep cool. I feel for those who work outside. Please stay hydrated and visit the shade frequently. I would like to remind those who would like to participate in our club sponsored VJ Day special event (W5J) being conducted August 29th thru September 2nd. If interested in participating, please contact Larry Anderson K5LDA (251) 653-4428 for suggestions in areas that will help i. e. SSB, CW, Digi, your band of choice and so forth. Please note that each member will be able to do his part from the comfort and air conditioning of his own home.

I would like to ask members for thoughts and prayers going out for fellow HAM Roy Davis K5RMD who is currently hospitalized.

Our next meeting will be held on August 1st at 9am, at the Suqualena Volunteer Fire Dept. at the corner of Hwy. 19 and 494. For those interested, I will conduct a session on getting started and preparing for DMR radio. I will help those interested with questions and hopefully answers on equipment of choice and route or routes of DMR areas of interest. God Bless!

GE to all: It is the time of year for both the Lauderdale Repeater Group and Meridian Amateur Radio Club to jointly pay for Liability Insurance to cover both groups and repeater sites. This year’s premium is $316.00 for a one year policy. I urge everyone to help pay for this expense. If you use any one of / or both repeaters just remember these do not stay on the air all by themselves. All donations will be greatly appreciated. Dennis NO5C
