President's Report
Greetings fellow HAMS,
As most of you know the upcoming 2026 Amateur Radio Field Day this year will be June 27-28. At our previous meetings we discussed joining with the Chickasawhay Repeater Group for the upcoming event. It was decided that we are going to have our station at the Archusa Water Park pavilion which we have already reserved. Our last bit of preparation for field day will take place at the June 6th meeting. We will meet at Suqualena Volunteer Fire Department.
A special THANK YOU to Eldon, W4IOS for his many years of service to our club and ham radio in general. A special certificate was awarded to him at the May 23rd ARRL VE test session.

Attention All Hams Interested In Building Antennas
The Meridian ARC will meet June 6th at Suqualena Volunteer Fire Department. After a brief business meeting we will have a program on building a 6m squalo antenna. How many of you are active on 6 Meters? How many have an efficient 6 Meter antenna? Here's your chance to see how to build a dedicated antenna for 6 meters. The band is available to Technicians and above. There will be a slide show, a “show and tell” and a demo.
You do not have to be an MARC member to attend. All are welcome. Looking forward to seeing you this Saturday morning, June the 6th at 9:00 am at the Suqualena Volunteer Fire Department, at the junction of Hwy 494 and Hwy 19 N.
Larry,

Collinsville Day
The Annual Collinsville Day, May 2nd 2026, Event and The W5C Ham Radio Special Event was a HUGE success! There were 160 vendors setup with all kinds of crafts, specialty food, apparel and many more goods for sale plus live music. The firemen cooked and served catfish and chicken dinners. This is a benefit, that is held every year, to support the Collinsville Volunteer Fire and Rescue.
The Meridian Amateur Radio Club setup special event radio station W5C to make the country aware of Collinsville Day and to “show off” ham radio. We made 173 contacts around the country and 7 foreign countries. We had several club members and guest hams operate the radios. Some folks stopped by to see what we were doing.

The ARRL has officially declared 2026 the Year of the Club, and we’re answering that call with a brand-new on-the-air event built specifically to energize your members and put your club front and center.
Introducing the Club QSO Party — the operating event designed FOR clubs, BY clubs.
Other than Field Day, there are very few true club-focused operating activities. That changes now!
Your club’s station will operate using your call sign plus your club’s age — for example: K2AA/110 — instantly showcasing your club’s history and identity every time you hit the air.
Event Dates - June 20th 00:00 UTC through June 21st 23:59 UTC
