President's Report

Greetings fellow HAMS.

Another month has quickly passed us. It felt short, probably because of our late February meeting. From our last meeting, I saw several upcoming club advancements and events. One particular event we talked about was the upcoming MS POTA on April 12th. I have read the material and web sites and have come to a whole new understanding of this activity. POTA is geared more towards individual amateur operators rather than club. Although stationing as a club in a MS park gives us the opportunity to fellowship and practice, but not necessarily mandatory for the POTA event.

Please open on your web browser and read: https://jcmsara.org/mississippi-parks-on-the-air/

I have read thoroughly thru the document and the POTA web site. I look forward to explaining the details of the event at our next meeting. This really sounds like it may be fun to participate.

Our next meeting will be Saturday, March 1st same time and venue. Until then.

73's and God bless.
Wayne Myhre, KC5HPU

Daylight Savings Time

Daylight saving time was first initiated in 1918 as a part of the Standard Time Act, which was a measure during World War 1, attempting to conserve energy resources and "spring forward" 7 months. It was brought about again during World War 2. It was largely optional for states to observe until 1966 when the Uniform Time Act standardization was enacted. Daylight Saving Time 2025 starts March 9th.
