President's Report

Greetings fellow HAMS,

What a great time we had at Field Day 2025. I'm sure we accumulated many points in several areas. Thanks go out to the operators who went all out. You know who you are. Above all we had fun. I would like to remind everyone of our last planned meeting change because of Field Day.

IMPORTANT: Our next meeting will be the 12th July 2025 at 0900hrs in the side room of Queen City truck stop. Come join us for a drink, breakfast and social. Last month's drawing winner of a pair of GMRS radios was Darrell Hover W5MAV. Thanks to all participants. Who knows, we may have other drawings.

MARC and Chickasawhay Repeater Group Field Day 2025

Field Day 2025 Recap: Testing Skills, Building Community

On June 28–29, the Meridian Amateur Radio Club and the Chickasawhay Repeater Group gathered at Archusa Creek Park Lodge for the annual ARRL Field Day — a 24-hour simulated emergency communication drill and community outreach event.

This year’s objectives were threefold: to test our ability to contact as many amateur radio operators across North America as possible, to demonstrate our capacity to provide critical communication services during commercial outages, and — of course — to have fun doing it. We’re proud to report that we succeeded on all counts.

Eighteen hams and guests participated in the event, operating entirely off-grid using solar, generator, and battery power. Throughout the 24-hour period, we logged 266 contacts (QSOs) across 68 states and sections, earning a total of 584 QSO points — with more bonus points coming after our official ARRL submission.

Field Day 2025 not only sharpened our emergency communication skills but also showcased the strength and resilience of our local amateur radio community. Many thanks to all who participated and supported the effort.
