"Pearl Harbor Day" Crossband Special Event
Announcement:
The Battleship Alabama will host a "Pearl Harbor Day" Crossband Special Event, December 6th and 7th, 2025. This activity is to commemorate the attack on Pearl Harbor by the Empire of Japan on December 7th, 1942. We plan to be on the air from 7 pm Friday night until noon Sunday.
Battleship Alabama will be using the ship's WWII callsign NEMW and will transmit on 4.455 MHz, 7.463 MHz and 14.761.5 MHz, all UPPER SIDEBAND, depending on propagation. The ship will listen for you on the adjacent ham frequencies 3.965 MHz, 7.180 MHz and 14.277 MHz. We will announce where we're listening. Please listen for us before you call. You will operate split - with one VFO on the military frequency and one on the ham frequency.
VERY IMPORTANT: Hams do not transmit on the military frequencies.
There will be a very nice QSL card for those who work us and send an SASE. Please QSL via K5LDA.
Please spread the word. We would like to get all the stations as possible in the log.

Alabama Pecan Festival Special Event, W4P
The Alabama Pecan Festival Special Event, W4P, in Mobile, was a great success. We started making contacts at noon on Friday, November 7th and lasted through Sunday, It was lots of fun. We made 316 contacts all around the country and two DX contacts. The QSL card requests are pouring in now.
I think our club should do more special events like the ones we do in Collinsville. We can apply for a special event callsign, for instance, like W5C, and make a big day of it, then send out custom QSL cards. What do you think?
