Galatians 6:9-18 --- Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers. (NIV)

President's Report
Greetings fellow HAMS,
First, I’d like to apologize for last month’s absence. Having employee shortages at work and ending up having to work extra shifts. I would like to thank Mr. Buford for taking over for my absence. Next meeting we still have some follow up things to cover and talk more about our participation at the upcoming Collinsville Day. Our next meeting will be October the 4th at the Queen City Truck Stop, side dining room. We will be ready at 9am for breakfast, drink and social. Looking forward to seeing you there.

VE TEST RESULTS
September 20, 2025 test results:
Rodney Wylie, KC5JMU took the General Class test and passed! He is now a General Class operator! Congratulate him if heard on the air! He is from the Laurel area!
On another note. This test is our 3 years anniversary of providing testing service in this area for the Meridian Amateur Radio Club! On Sept 24, 2022 was our first test session! I want to take this opportunity to THANK all of our VE’s that take time from their day to help with giving of their time to help others to become HAMS or upgrading others licenses. This includes but not limited to the VE’s that has helped when needed!
THANK YOU FROM THE BOTTOM OF MY HEART! I could not do it without you!

Support HR 1084 and S 459
Several states have legislation in place to mitigate HOA’s from restricting Hams to put up towers or antennas on their property. In Mississippi the 2006 PRB-1 Legislation has helped in this respect (see Section Web site for link to this legislation.)
In 1996 Congressional legislation was passed to allow property owners to put up TV antennas, satellite dishes, and wireless links on the owner’s property, but not Ham antennas. Something’s wrong here.
Our ARRL Congressional Legislative Team in Washington says now is the time to make our move. The Amateur Radio Emergency Preparedness Act is now in committee as HR
1094 and S 459 with bi-partisan support. Passage will allow Hams to put up towers and antennas on their own property regardless of their HOA.
What is needed now is grassroots support from voters back home. This could take a lot of your time to prepare a factual letter or an email which could end up with a sixteen-week delay at the security checkpoint warehouse in Virginia or lost in some staffers in-basket.
The ARRL has by-passed this hurdle by drafting a concise letter to support HR 1084 and S 459 which is accessible on-line at https:/send-a-letter.org/hoa/. Once downloaded all that needs to be done is to type in your call into the box, hit the submit button, and support letters are on the way to Senator Wicker and Senator Hyde-Smith and your congressional district representative. It shouldn’t take more to than two minutes max to get your letters on the way.
The letters will go to the office of the ARRL’s Congressional Legislative Team that will hand deliver each letter to your senator or representative. No USPS or email. Nothing like a stack of legislative support letters from home to get an elected official’s attention.
Mississippi Hams, let’s get the job done!

PS: If you keep an email distribution list, please relay this email to your Ham friends. Hams don’t have to be ARRL members to participate (but should be) in this grassroots campaign.

HOA’s vs Ham Radio
There’s currently a bipartisan effort to pass legislation to prevent HOA’s from restricting amateur radio antennas. The ARRL has a very easy automated system set up so you can cast your vote with a letter to your legislators.
The Community Associations Institute, Inc. is the primary opponent of removing the HOA prohibition on amateur radio antennas. It’s a national organization, with chapters in every State, as the political voice of home owner associations (“HOA”), HOA management companies, HOA law firms, and developers. It is rabidly anti-Amateur Radio.
