 Bible Verse

Acts 4:1-4     1The priests and the captain of the temple guard and the Sadducees came up to Peter and John while they were speaking to the people. 2They were greatly disturbed because the apostles were teaching the people and proclaiming in Jesus the resurrection of the dead. 3They seized Peter and John, and because it was evening, they put them in jail until the next day. 4But many who heard the message believed, and the number of men grew to about five thousand. (NIV)

Meeting Location Changed

Our monthly business meetings were already being held at The Checker Board Restaurant. At the business meeting on May 5th it was brought up and voted on to change the weekly Saturday morning breakfast / coffee drinking to, The Checker Board Restaurant as well.

Effective immediately, we will not be meeting formally at Queen City Truck Stop. Please help pass the word. We don’t want someone waiting for other amateurs at the truck stop, while others are at the Checker Board Restaurant.

See you at The Checker Board Restaurant on Saturday. 73, Darrell - W5MAV

Antenna Class / Building Session

Club members have discussed several times the subject of an antenna class or antenna building session.  Fred has indicated that he would be happy to hold the session at his home on the first Saturday in June.  That will be the same day as our June business meeting.

When we vacate the Checkerboard we can perambulate over to his house and work on some of the antennas folks have been wanting to build.  Antennas like the one on page 34 of the May QST Ralph wants to hang in the air, the Mystery Antenna Mel wants to construct, and the 40 meter wire beam Russ wants to build.

Folks would have to bring their own materials and any tools they have.  We will have some tools, connectors, soldering irons/solder, plus antenna analyzers and SWR meters for your use.  If the builder of an antenna does not have some of the stuff needed he is urged to use the repeater, packet, HF, or other means to secure the necessary materials to complete his/her project.

I personally would like to construct a two or three element QUAD for six meters but do not have the fiberglass or bamboo necessary to build the spreaders.  If you have suitable said materials please let me know and I will work out something with you.

Fred will provide the group to use his three tables and provide power for the building of your projects.

Even better is the fact that he is going to cook hamburgers about 1400 hours for those of us attending the session.  He would like for you to let him know if you plan to attend so that he will have enough victuals for the bunch of us.  If you would like to help out by bringing extra victuals or drinks let him know that too.  He might welcome the help.

This would be a great time to get our antennas ready for FD or home use. Thanks, Jim / W5ED
