Merry Christmas

 Bible Verse

The Birth of Jesus Luke 2:11-14 Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is Christ the Lord. This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger." Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying, “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to men on whom his favor rests." (NIV)

President's Report

Well....here we are in December....the last business meeting's done, new officers are elected (sort of), and it's Christmas party time. The meeting / election on Saturday the 6th was sparsely populated.... I presume shopping and other activities had a lot of you busy. Thanks to those who did attend and participate. Three of last year's officers are returning for '04 with one new face, VP Michael, N5VWS. I'll look forward to working with all of them and all of you in '04.

MARC is different things to different people, I suppose. We support several missions, including one local repeater, a Volunteer Examiner team, and through the ARES program, Skywarn, LEMA, and Red Cross activities. I would hope that in the new year, we'll continue to support these worthwhile efforts and add some just-for-fun (and learning) operating events. I'll make every effort to keep it interesting and fun, which is what got most of us here in the first place. To do that, I need your help - I need feedback. I need to know what YOU want MARC to be doing. E-mail me: w5rb@arrl.net or catch me via radio or telephone and pass along an idea about what you'd like (or NOT like) to see the club doing. We need all the members we have and all the new (or returning) ones we can get. There's a place for everybody and every radio interest here at MARC.

That leads me to restate something that needs to be said once in a while for clarity. MARC welcomes all licensed amateurs, as well as non-hams with an interest in radio to attend any MARC function and to join as members if they're so inclined. We're glad to see hams (and their families) of any license class, and band/mode preference, including but not limited to: QRPers, DXers, Moon bouncers, rag-chewers, brass-pounders, county-hunters, contesters, SSTVers, PSK31ers, packeteers, foxhunters, and any other kind I've failed to mention. We're one of the least exclusive clubs around. If you love radio, we want you at our meetings and events. If you're a past member we haven't seen lately... I'd encourage you to try us again. Let's get '04 rolling with a healthy roster and lots of hope for the New Year. 73, Russ, W5RB
